Living wicker - Vannerie de Villaines-les-Rochers

Living wicker is marketed from December to March.

We offer you to create yourself your garden hedge, woven with living wicker. In the open ground or in window box, the wicker hedge is a living fence which will make a very decorative screen while growing.

On a strip of dug ground, plant stakes of chestnut or of treated pine measuring 2.50 m., every 2 to 4 meters, and this for the good posture of your hedge.

Tighten 2 rows of wires to which the hedge will be tied the time needed for it to become strong.
Bevell the withies feet and put them on the ground by 2, 4 or 6 according to the type of hedge chosen, with a gap of 10 to 20 cm, 30 cm in depth.
Slope the left withies of each pair diagonally to the left, for them to cross the right ones leant to the right, passing by them.

In the 2nd row, reverse the crossings, the front withies passing behind..
Drawing level with the wires, tie the crossings with small withies or raffia.
At the top, you can leave the withies free, or trim them, or make them round by putting the withies heads down to form small bridges (take care not to bend the withy).

Upkeeping the wicker hedge:

In order to ease the digging in, it is important to foresee, as soon as the beginning of the planting, a regular watering drop by drop for a hedge in the open ground, or with a watering can for window boxes.
